According to the source, Quentin Tarantino‘s preference for reinvigorating actors’ careers with a favourite role (for example, as he popularly did with John Travolta and Don Johnson), it’s a little shocking that he and Macaulay Culkin have not worked unitedly. But according to the Home Alone star, that’s not for the shortage of seeking on his part.
Culkin confesses in a new interview that he auditioned for Tarantino’s star-studded, Oscar-winning Once Upon a Time in Hollywood — and it did not precisely go well.
Culkin states, ‘It was a tragedy.’
‘I would not have selected me. I am fearful at auditioning anyway, and this was my first audition in like eight years.’
The star would not tell what part he was giving audition for, but the outlet considers it could have been Manson Murderer Tex Watson.
Further, the star stated: ‘I could not observe myself doing a sitcom or a television show kind of thing.
‘They pushed me for The Big Bang Theory, and I spoke Nah.
‘The way the pitch was it was like, these two astrophysicist nerds and a beautiful girl live with them, zoinks! That was the pitch.
‘They were like, we are going to get some real experts to do the math and I was like no, I’m cool, thanks. They came back at me again, but again, flattered, no.’
That role moved to Austin Butler, who next features as Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s future biopic.
Some of the years ago Culkin told that he turned down featuring in The Big Bang theory.
Had he been appointed, the character would have been Culkin’s chief in a high-profile studio movie since the sarcastic parody Saved! in 2004.
Since then, he’s mostly arrived in independent movies and the rare TV character, like Hulu’s Dollface previous year. (He also riffed on his iconic Home Alone character in a 2018 vacation advertisement for Google.)
