A Florida man was arrested Sunday, months after allegedly physically abusing a 4-year-old girl he was responsible for babysitting
Reportedly, 19-year-old Braxton Upshaw babysits a woman’s two children two or four times a week from August 2019 until the alleged incident, which according to the officers took place in October. The mother claimed Upshaw was watching her children while working on Oct. 7. When she returned home, the woman’s 4-year-old daughter accused Upshaw of touching her inappropriately.
Court documents stated that the mother felt Upshaw seemed “anxious” to leave when he returned home from work on October 7th.
The mother of two filed a case against Upshaw
Although it is unclear when the girl’s mother alerted authorities, an arrest was made for Upshaw on 22 April.
According to the sources, an arrest report reported that Upshaw sometimes babysits children late for dinner and that they had previously spent the night at home. However, it is not known immediately how often it happened.
Investigators collected DNA samples from the victim to confirm molestation.
Investigators subsequently collected DNA from Upshaw, who denied the allegations as far as possible and claimed that his DNA would not be found with the girl.
Charges against Upshaw
Upshaw has been accused of laziness or obscene harassment on a victim under the age of 12. The officers reported that Upshaw was released for no reason after a court hearing Monday. He has been ordered to bring a GPS monitoring device and contacting the victim and his family is prohibited.
