On Monday, the Hallandale Beach Police were sent to a quiet neighborhood after receiving a call that there was a dead body lying in the yard. Police said that when they reached the residential, they instead found an armed man slumped over a trash bin. According to sources, police shot the armed man.
The armed man was transported to a hospital. As of Monday afternoon, the authorities have not released the condition and name of the injured person.
Police got the call regarding a dead body in the 1100 block of Northeast 10th Street at around 7:15 am on Monday.
When the police officers arrived, they advanced the man and questioned if he wanted help, police spokeswoman Ra Shana Dabney-Donovan said in a statement.
According to the report, the man revealed the police his weapon. After that, one police officer fired multiple times.
Dabney-Donovan said at the scene that “The officer was in concern for his life and his security.”
A gun was discovered at the scene, the statement stated. It is unclear that the revolver belongs to whom.
Dabney-Donovan stated that police are investigating if the man injured before the shooting or not.
At the call of the Hallandale Beach Police Department, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the police-involved shooting case.
The authorities have not released further information about the case as it is still investigating.
