Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes to return to Walking Dead franchise
Scott Gimple, director of materials for the Walking Dead universe, has revealed that star Andrew Lincoln is “eager” to return to his role as Rick Grimes for the debut of French Lincoln.
AMC promoted The Walking Dead season 9, episode 5, “What Comes After” as an episode of “Rick Griff”. Traditionally in The Walking Dead, someone’s “last episode” means they are about to suffer a horrible death.
Rick did not die in his final episode. He got close enough after suffering a particularly Christlike wound and being destroyed on a bridge and rough river. Although after all that Rick conquered all of that because you literally can’t kill the man. Jadis discovers Rick at the riverbank and discovers the radio in his mysterious band of helicopters. It doesn’t have an “A” as promised, but Rick is apparently a solid “B”. The helicopter community accepts Jadis’ offer and Rick is pulled out for alleged security.
Speaking to ComicBook.com as part of the Virtual Comic-Con @ Home event, Gimple revealed that Lincoln is “super involved” with the film’s plan, stating, “He’s around the football with the rest of us.” Spear. That’s a lot. “A lot has been invested in this.”
