Authorities said on Saturday that a 60-year-old man who was punched and kicked during a $1 robbery has died at a hospital.
The New York Police Department said that 60-year-old Juan Fresnada died on Friday afternoon at the hospital, where he was carried in severe condition after the mugging early on Christmas Eve.
Officers have published surveillance photos and videos in hopes of pin -ointing the attackers and to get information from those people who know about the incident.
Police stated that Fresnada and another 29-year-old man were walking early on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, when several muggers approached the two and asked to give their money and possessions.
On that, the two refused to give money or any of their things, and then they started to attack the two men by punching and kicking
The attackers took $1 from them and fled from the scene.
Surveillance video released by authorities displays a man grabbing another man’s shirt and swinging him to the ground, then punching him. The Surveillance video also shows two other men joining the attacker, one of them taking a trash can, as the beaten man begins to stand up.
Police said that it’s unclear whether he is Fresnada or the younger man, who refused medical attention.
The police are investigating the case.
